Candace Carlo is a partner in the entertainment law firm Kleinberg Lange Cuddy & Carlo. Ms. Carlo combines years of representing A-List talent and companies in private practice with in-house experience at the major motion picture studios Columbia Pictures and TriStar Pictures. As a consequence of her wide-ranging experience, Ms. Carlo provides her clients with creative and skilled representation in the film, television, music, and video game industries. Prior to joining her current firm, Ms. Carlo was the Chair of Greenberg Glusker’s Entertainment Department.

Ms. Carlo’s clients include a mix of top-level talent and powerhouse production companies. She represents Academy Award and Golden Globe winning composer Hans Zimmer in multiple arenas. She has handled his composer deals for years ranging from the “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Batman,” and “Sherlock Holmes” series to recent hits “Hidden Figures” (2017 Golden Globe nomination), “Interstellar” and “Kung Fu Panda 3” as well as upcoming WWII drama “Dunkirk.” Ms. Carlo handled legal matters for the “Hans Zimmer Live” 2016 Tour with performances in over 30 cities throughout Europe, and is currently handling the 2017 U.S./Australia/Europe Tour. Ms. Carlo also represents Mr. Zimmer’s company 14th Street Music, whose evocative music underpins hit video game franchises “Call of Duty” and “Skylanders,” documentaries such as critical darling “The Last Man on the Moon,” and various other television and film productions. In addition, Ms. Carlo represents eminent composers Henry Jackman (“Captain America: Civil War,” “Birth of a Nation”) and Heitor Pereira (“Minions,” “The Angry Birds Movie”).

Ms. Carlo is counsel for Academy Award-winning director Brenda Chapman (“Brave”) and Disney star Sofia Carson (“Descendants”). Ms. Carlo’s clients James Keach (“Walk the Line,” “Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman”) and Eric Carlson will produce the upcoming Sylvester Stallone/Adam Driver film “Tough As They Come.” She represents Spanish language TV superstar Ana Maria Polo (“Caso Cerrado”) and the Jenni Rivera Estate regarding numerous film and television projects about inspirational diva Jenni Rivera, including the Telemundo series “Butterfly from the Hood.”

Ms. Carlo has considerable experience in the international arena, particularly in the ever-growing cross-pollination of the Asian and American entertainment markets. In addition to having represented CJ E&M Corporation and Marza Entertainment (Sega Sammy Holdings) in numerous major film deals, Ms. Carlo is counsel to Chinese company Mandoo Pictures for production and distribution of the upcoming music-driven animated film “Rock Dog” starring Luke Wilson and J.K. Simmons. She is currently handling various television deals for related company Dream Factory. Ms. Carlo also represents high-powered producer team Sandy Rabins and Penney Finkelman-Cox in connection with their multi-picture deal for the Chinese animation company Original Force.

Ms. Carlo is committed to community service. She provided pro bono legal services in connection with the Lincoln Film Festival (Illinois) which launched this fall. She also contributed legal services for HRH Prince Harry’s charity projects “Harry’s Arctic Heroes” and “Harry’s Mountain Heroes.” She has lectured at USC Law School on entertainment law. Ms. Carlo helped organize and present a symposium focused on how women of different races can work together to create inclusion and opportunity, has been a moderator and panelist at the UCLA Entertainment Law Symposium, and has served on panels focused on women in entertainment.

Ms. Carlo was selected for inclusion in U.S. News & World Report’s “The Best Lawyers in America” for 2019 and 2020. She has been featured in Variety’s “Dealmakers Impact Report” (2017), Variety’s “Legal Impact Report” (2015, 2014, 2012), Los Angeles Magazine’s “Top Women Attorneys in Southern California – Entertainment and Sports,” and the Los Angeles Business Journal’s “Top 75 Women Corporate and Transactional Lawyers.” Ms. Carlo is also perennially named a Super Lawyer by Southern California Super Lawyers magazine and listed among Southern California Super Lawyers’ “Top 50 Women” for 2015 and 2016.
